内容简介:

Air is necessary for the survival of human beings. Air pollution occurs when the pollutants emitted by human activities such as industrialization and urbanization exceed the environmental carrying capacity, thereby affecting human health and socio-economic development. China's air pollution shows significant phase characteristics, influenced by its industrial structure and development approaches. In the 1970s and 1980s, acid rain from coal combustion severely degraded the air quality, followed by photochemical smog from motor vehicle emissions. Haze became a major problem at the beginning of the 21st century. The formation mechanism of haze is more intricate than those of other types of air pollution. Under specific atmospheric conditions, haze is caused by a number of pollutants emitted by sources via various physical and chemical processes. In China, several kinds of pollution sources coexist with complex emission characteristics. The capacity of atmospheric oxidation continues to increase, and the features of combined air pollution are prominent. Smog will be difficult to effectively control if its formation mechanism cannot be accurately analyzed. Thus, in 2012, the Chinese Academy of Sciences launched a Strategic Priority Research Program (Class B) named "Formation Mechanism and Control Strategies of Haze in China". The program emphasized the generation, evolution, and control of airborne fine particulate matter (PM2.5), with key research areas being the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Pearl River Delta. The program aims to clarify the formation mechanism of regional haze, identify key pollutants and pollution sources, research into forecasting and early warning models with independent intellectual property rights, develop technologies to control key haze-causing pollutants through controlled experiments, field observations, and numerical simulations, and provide scientific and technological support for China to formulate control strategies and implementation plans for haze pollution.
